Christmas decoration comes out earlier and earlier every year. Retail industry is working their magic to bring Xmas to us earlier, and make the season lasts longer. Because what other time than now would people be tempted to spend money?
Xmas is now a commercial season and some may mourn for the diminishing religious significance.
I actually think the growing commercialization of Xmas is also a manifestation of the positive meaning of Xmas.
Shopping for gifts and buying decoration to warm up your house for guests…
Isn’t it the spirit of giving the true meaning of Xmas?
I have been sponsoring this child in the Philippines starting Spring this year through Child International.
It’s not glamorous at all. It’s not even a touching and spritual experience.
But it makes you feel like Xmas from time to time.
You know you have spent some money so a family receives gifts and support.
It may not be a lot, and it may be a plain gift. But it could change a family in a much bigger way than you think.
Because we take everything for granted. Like we take Christmas lights for granted. Like we take Thanksgiving turkey for granted.
Like we see $18 as nothing.
But that’s all it takes to give a family clean water to drink, food on the table, warm and clean bedding to sleep on.
So they can appreciate the spirit of Xmas through the materials they are provided.
