A perfect start February 27, 2007

So it’s been awhile since I last posted on the blog.
Feeling very uninspired recently so I have been putting images on my album instead.
Hope you like the new year illustrations, and the new batch of drawings from Tomo Omori.

If I am a superstitious person, I was supposed to have a fantastic but busy year of the Pig.
Since so far nothing’s improved so far I’d say it’s not about fate anymore.

You see, it’s always important to have a good start in everything.
We all hope that the momentum can get us through at least half of whatever that is.
And a good start usually comes with a good ending. Or one leads to another at least.

My poor start in the year comes from the result of someone else’s wrong doing.

And you know what, there is only one way out of it unfortunately –
fix it all in one long evening with the belief that I can start the next day fresh of someone else’s lingering bad breath.
And hopefully a good start in a day leads to a good ending of a week, and eventually a better next week.
It’s unfair to have to pick up on someone’s poo poo. But hey, c’est la vie…

One can only try one’s best to change one’s life.
And that’s what keeps us going everyday.

A new look February 15, 2007

Together with the new look of New York city after the snow, I have updated my blog site to a greyish tone.

Everytime of a first experience, you can always see the most beautiful side of things.
Like the first time I experience frost snowing, it is warm, harsh on the face and eyes, white and blurry, like an errie dream to me.

Remember the first time I saw snowfall in NY back in 2003, the fluffy snow falling diagonal to the corners of the tall window outside of the high ceiling office was the most romantic thing.

When you get used to things you begin to only see the worse angles.
You slowly forget why you loved to be here in the first place.
Why you fell in love with someone.
What made your life exciting everyday.
Why you should say thank you to someone.

Though next year I will only see the dirt in snow, I hope I can remember the beauty of the night on Feb 13 when I walked from 5th Street to Union Square, and the frost swirling on the ground in the whimsical wind.

Desert Island CDs February 11, 2007

During dinner last night, the few of us were together at this really pathetic Japanese restaurant on the lower west side. They were playing rock and on the bar counter sat a customer / staff sleeping in front of a tiny TV set playing a mix of Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan and some country rock singers’ concert footage.

In the middle of our misery, sipping tea that we have to pay for, the four of us started our list of desert island CDs.

If you have 10 CDs you cannot live without that you will be bringing to a trip – which we know will end with a plan crash on a desert island and you will be the sole survivor, what are these music?

My list :
  1. U2 Actung – Baby
  2. Tori Amos – Boys from Pele
  3. きまぐれオレンジロード Kimagura Orange Road Soundtrack – Loving Heart
  4. Norah Jones – Come away with me
  5. Radiohead Single – Europe is our playground (or from Sci-fi Lullabies)
  6. London Suede – Singles collection
  7. 椎名林檎 Shiina Ringo – Muzai Moratoriamu (Innocence Moratorium)
  8. Stan Getz / Astrud Gilberto – Getz Gilberto
  9. La Double Vie De Veronique – The Soundtrack
  10. Starsailor – Silence is Easy
What about you?

Here it comes and here it goes February 2, 2007

So came an interview opportunity and here it goes away.

Such a shame that 3 years ago I was hoping to join this big advertising agency and work on this blue chip client but there wasn’t any vacancy.
Recently I got an invitation to interview.  Unfortunately I am not in the position now to attend unless I am to notify my HR person. And the opportunity goes away.

Doesn’t life sometimes feel like a never-ending tango with chances and opportunities?

It’s a game of patience.

And yes, patience is what you gain with time, so does wisdom to see through what is your best shot.

I’ll just not think about it this weekend. Tired.

And people, enjoy life as my friend says. You deserve it.
